Today
( 07.07.05 ) the Life of Agony drummer Sal Abruscato made
a Statement
on the Bands messageboard:
"Alright now you guys really need to get jobs or something cause this t-shirt nazi thing is really stupid. We are offended to even be called Nazi's I mean one of the band members is Jewish give me a break. Social parasites get off your asses and get a grip on the situation.
First off that wasn't even Keiths shirt, Wardrobe stylists in the LA video shoot told Keith to put on the shirt, it wasn't even his it belonged to wardrobe. Obviuosly the wardrobe girls just thought it was a cool shirt they had no idea what it meant 50 years earlier. I do know that the end footage of the video, the offensive logo has been blurred out now, so no one will see it any more in Germany. Thanx in advance. "
Okay so far so good. Finally they cleared things up. Although we wonder why the skull is still in the video on their page. To point it out clearly: Sony/BMG reacted on their German Site immediately and straight, and corrected the Clip ( here the corrected_Version ). Excellent Job. Thumbs up !
It has been quiet stupid how much garbage has been postet on diverse Internet Sites on this theme. Some people even meant it was all about the Bandlogo. It would have been nice, if the people had read our original post about this. Again and again repeated the the wrong comparison with the iron cross of Motorhead and the Eagle Logo of Slayer ... Nonsense !! The iron Cross is not forbidden by law in Germany but the SS Deadhead !!
Important to notice the fact that even an established and well known Skatewear Trademark like FUCT use the SS Deadhead as a Symbol on their shirts. ( it was guessed that from this Trademark the Shirt in the video had been produced ) ...thats really fucked up !!!
And thats what this was all about. Its not just the swastika that is forbidden to wear in german public or media. For all those who still think: "Ah, take it easy , it all happened a long time ago, its just another skull " we recommend this Brochure from 2004 of the German Verfassungsschutz ( "constitution protection service" ). On Page 28 you find an excerpt on the SS Skull and why it is forbidden.
